International Year of Light – Exhibition in Paris

by Hanna Sathiapal | Jun 17, 2015 | Public Engagement | 0 comments

Screenshot of the exhibition trailerFLARECAST partner Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale contributed to the exhibition L’Odyssée de la Lumière at Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.

It is open from March 17 to November 1, 2015.

The exhibition is dedicated to the International Year of Light 2015. It is built on the paths of 2 photons, one from the big bang, the other from the centre of the Sun.

There was a plan to project Eric Buchlin’s extraordinary movie of the entire solar limb on the four walls of a room, creating an immersive solar space. It had to give way to an interactive projection about galaxies and black holes. There seem to be a competition about the most spectacular space topics :-). I hope that there will be other occasions to realize the extraordinary visitor experience.

Before you can physically step into the solar room, please enjoy a small version of the solar limb movie and imagine how it would be. Make sure to watch it in full screen mode.

After the solar eclipse in March, the International Year of Light  2015 is the current great opportunity for outreach related to heliophysics.
